This January, together with Anxo Méndez and Paco Castillo, we have published an article that includes two different experiences carried out on the study of Green Infrastructure at different scales, based on the provision of Ecosystem Services.
You can access the full article at this link and the full publication in the monograph dedicated to Green Infrastructure in FUNDICOT’s Cuadernos del Territorio magazine.
The concept of Green Infrastructure is forged within the so-called eco-planning or ecological planning. Numerous reference authors can be cited in its gestation (F. Law Oliste, Winston Spirn, Cedria Price, Patrick Jedes, Lewis Mumford), but, dissuaded from making a lengthy list of the figures that have shaped it, we wanted to record in this introduction acknowledgment of the pioneering work of Ian McHarg (1969), who is considered by many to be one of the fathers of landscape ecology.
The author established in his most emblematic work –Design with nature– the principle that the natural processes that occur in the biophysical matrix must be the starting point for territorial planning. In this book we can already find the embryo of the concept of ecosystem services.
